Fund Koda's Fight Against Megaesophagus

Hey everyone! I desperately need your help. I am reaching out to you, my community for support in this time of need. As many of you know I rescued my precious little Koda (FKA Elton John) last June. He has already been through so much in the short, 2 years that he has been alive. I was told by his Foster Mom that this poor boy was kept outside all day without any love or attention. That broke my heart. He was very sick and in poor health. When he became extremely ill, he was abandoned at VCA Knowles Snapper Creek Animal Hospital. They then handed him over to Paw Patrol Animal Rescue.

I just knew in my heart that I had to save him. He quickly learned his new name Koda which means “little friend” and became Kya’s little friend & baby Brother. He has been in and out of the ER with different health issues. Unfortunately even though I felt my love would be enough to help Koda overcome his past health issues it has not been the case. I do not regret rescuing Koda but I may not have completely understood the toll it would also take on me emotionally and financially.

Koda has recently been diagnosed with Megaesophagus which is a condition that decreases mobility in the muscles of the esophagus, the tube that connects the mouth and the stomach. The muscles in the esophagus don’t properly coordinate the swallowing movement when a dog eats or drinks. The food and liquid sit in the esophagus, stretching it and preventing the food and nutrients from being absorbed properly. Causing him to regurgitate. He is unable to swallow food normally including keeping water down. Food or water can easily get into his lungs, causing a medical emergency. This condition can be managed by keeping Koda upright when he eats and for 30 to 45 minutes after every meal 3-4 times a day.

Your generous contributions will go towards Koda’s medical expenses, a Bailey chair that will need to be custom made (A Bailey chair is a tall, narrow box that provides support so dogs can eat and remain seated in an upright “begging” position), and ongoing care as we embark on this new journey. Every donation, no matter how small will make a meaningful difference and help me provide this sweet boy with the love and care he deserves. Together, we can help Koda continue to live a full and happy life ❤️ Thank you
