Fund Kuntanawa's Urgent Journey to Land Recognition

We are raising funds to bring five Kuntanawa representatives to Brasilia for a critical meeting with government officials to demarcate 100,000 hectares (about 247,105 acres) of land, marking the first step in reclaiming their ancestral lands.

Five Kuntanawa women survived the 1911 genocide of their families and gave birth to the next generation, who were then born into slavery in the rubber tapping trade in Acre, Brazil. In 1988, the Kuntanawa Nation was liberated and recognized as a sovereign nation. Now, they aim to secure dignified lives and have their lands officially recognized.

The demarcation of Kuntanawa lands has a global impact by helping to balance the planet's oxygen and carbon levels. Protecting these lands is essential as deforestation accelerates, especially in the Amazon, to ensure the future of humanity amid the climate crisis.

The Kuntanawa Nation actively protects the Amazon and supports impoverished communities affected by deforestation. Their projects include large-scale tree planting, preserving forests with uncontacted tribes, and educational campaigns to raise awareness and generate income for marginalized communities.

Phase 1 of our mission is to bring these representatives to Brasilia to start the demarcation process. We need $24,363.00 to cover travel expenses for this vital endeavor.
