The atrocities in our government's treatment of asylum seekers & immigrant families along our border continue to worsen:
This week, the administration announced they are cutting access to legal representation, education, and recreation for migrant kids detained in ORR facilities.
A prematurely born infant and her 17-year-old mother spent seven days being almost entirely neglected in Border Patrol custody, according to lawyers who visited an immigrant processing station in McAllen, Texas, on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Soon, they will hold unaccompanied migrant children at a military base that was a Japanese internment camp during WWII.
WE ARE APPALLED. WE ARE ASKING WHAT WE CAN DO TO STOP THIS.
We at LWA are raising funds to donate to The South Texas Pro Bono Asylum Representation Project (ProBAR) .
ProBAR empowers detained immigrants through high-quality legal education and representation. Located in Harlingen, Texas, ProBAR serves adults and unaccompanied children in immigration detention in the Rio Grande Valley.
100% of funds raised will go directly to ProBar to help them provide:
Pro-bono legal services to detained adults and unaccompanied children.
Shelter services, including “Know Your Rights” presentations and legal screenings to unaccompanied children detained in the custody of ORR.
Release support for guardians of children released from immigration in the form of legal orientation presentations and referrals to legal and social service providers in their community.
