Fund Lifesaving Care for Patients in Kisoro
Donation protected
Hi everyone! As some of you may know, this August I will be joining a team of global health attending physicians and residents from Northwell and Montefiore to help staff a public hospital in Kisoro, Uganda. The hospital sees up to 250 people a day, many of whom live on $1.90 a day or less. While physician services and laboratory testing are provided to patients free of charge, basic diagnostic testing, such as CT or X-ray, are often unavailable or costly at private facilities. Additionally, drug stockouts are common and many times, patients may be expected to purchase their own prescription medications for serious but curable illnesses like malaria and tuberculosis. These medications only cost a few dollars per day at the local pharmacy, however this is often untenable, and many patients choose to forgo treatment to avoid sliding deeper into poverty. Because of this situation, I am hoping to raise money to assist patients in obtaining these necessary components of care. Any amount would be greatly appreciated and would certainly make a huge difference in the lives of the patients in Kisoro. Thanks!
