Help for MJ's Surgery!

Donation protected
Hi friends. If you know me you know how much I love my pup, Mary Jane (MJ). She is a 1-year-old lab/pitbull/husky mix who I have adored ever since she was born, taking her on as many adventures as possible, meeting new friends and spending many moments together. In July, we plan on moving across the country from Austin, TX to New York City to begin my post-grad career. MJ is a part of a litter from a stray, Daisy, that my parents adopted last year. I had the unique dog-mom experience of watching MJ being born, and from that moment I knew we were meant to be. I since moved back to Austin to finish up my senior year of college, all with the little girl by my side, witnessing many of my major milestones throughout the last year.

MJ has been experiencing complications since early April, following her spay surgery in March. She began to act lethargic and had no appetite, and after several vet visits and an ultrasound, we discovered she has a fluid-filled body in her lower abdomen, likely to be pyometra or metritis in either her ovary or remaining uterus. This diagnosis requires an exploratory surgery to remove the abnormality. While not immediate right now, the situation could very quickly become an emergency if it begins to cause an infection, which could happen at any moment, therefore it needs to be performed as soon as possible. If left untreated, the infection will result in death. I hope to admit her in the next couple of weeks. The operation requires an overnight stay at the hospital, MJ undergoing anesthesia, various medications and intense post-operative care guidelines.

I unfortunately do not have the money to get the surgery for MJ on my own, and have made this gofundme in an effort to raise some money to cover costs. Again, if you know me, you know how much I love my dog, and I would truly do anything to provide a quality life for her. Beyond the occasional help of a few friends and family, I have raised her completely independently, and orient my lifestyle, schedule, and paycheck to accommodate her in the best way possible. I have spent more money and dedicated more time to her health these past few months than my own. I don't have enough words to describe how much I love this dog, and how much she has changed my life for the better, becoming the best kind of companion and comfort to me. I cannot consider my life without her in it now, and hope that she can be by my side for a long long time following this unfortunate series of events.

Anything you can provide to help the two of us get through this rough patch would be amazing. If you cannot afford to help, sharing with your own networks would be hugely appreciated.

It Takes A Village. Thank you for anything you can do to contribute!
