Funeral Arrangements

Donation protected
UPDATE: We are heartbroken to announce that Mom passed away this morning, June 24, at the hospital in Arkansas. Thank you all so much for your very generous donations and support. Our family is filled with emotions today and will share more information with you soon. We wish to utilize this fundraiser to assist with funeral arrangements for mom and to help dad with expenses in this time of transition. Thank you so much for your kindness.

My mom was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in May 2023, and after months of treatment and a bone marrow transplant in October 2023, her cancer was supposed to be in remission, until now, June 2024. Mom felt so relieved and grateful, she missed her family and her friends, she desperately wanted to feel alive again and visit her best friend. Unfortunately, while visiting her best friend of 50 years in Arkansas, she began to feel a relapse and doctors in Arkansas found that her cancer has returned. Urgently, she must fly back to Oregon using a Medical Transport, which will cost $40,000. She is too sick to take a commercial flight or drive home. The only way home is by Medical Transport. Please read my mom’s story below, and if you can help, we would be very grateful for anything you can offer. Mom needs to get back to Oregon Health and Sciences University Hospital as soon as possible.

Chartering a plane that provides medical equipment and a doctor who flies with the patient is our only option. The $40,000 pays for the flight and the staff.

Last year, while fighting the battle against AML, my mother had to leave her home in Eugene, she had to leave my dad and her pets to hold down the fort while she was required to live in an apartment in Portland, Oregon close to Oregon Health and Sciences University Hospital where she received treatment and the bone marrow transplant.

Mom could not live alone in the apartment, so I changed my job so that I was able to work remotely and moved to Portland to take care of her in the apartment. Our family has tried so very hard to support Mom successfully through this, we are willing to help and sacrifice in every way, but now, after all the other medical expenses, this new development has left us in a position of asking for help via GoFundMe.

Mom must resume treatment in Oregon but cannot commute on a commercial flight or drive. She must be transported via Medical Transport, which costs $40,000.

MOM’S LIFE:
Mom grew up in Toledo, Oregon and went to beauty school, then began working as a hair stylist in Eugene. She has been married to my dad for 40 years and they raised me in Eugene. She has devoted her life to her family, friends, and community in Oregon. She has never asked for help before, she has supported others throughout her life, but now she needs help. Thank you for anything you can do to help raise the funds needed.
