College trip to South Africa-once in a lifetime opportunity
Donation protected
Hi, my names Liz and i’m currently studying Level 3 Animal Management at Moreton Morrell College. During my course, i learn many topics such as animal behaviour, biology and health. I chose to study this course as i would really like to continue my education at university by studying Veterinary Medicine, to then become a vet.
In July 2026, which is at the end of my second year at college, there is a 14 day trip to Mankwe Reserve in South Africa. When there, i would learn many new skills and develop my knowledge on topics such as Rhino horn trimming and how it is done to benefit their welfare. Other things i would also take part in and observe, would be game drives, camera trapping, rhino behaviour and a demonstration from the anti-poaching unit, which involves using canines like malinois and german shepards.
However, as most people know my mum has been raising me and my brother alone for most of our lives. She currently has a job which she loves but her hours can vary, making it difficult to both care for our household whilst trying to fund this trip. Additionally, i also have a part time job but as it is a 0 hour contract, they often cancel my shifts.
The cost of the trip has been estimated to cost £2600. I have managed to save £750 so far from my job and my mum.
Any help, whether it be £1 or offering me some work to help with the cost of this once in a lifetime trip would be much appreciated by myself and my mum.
Thank you for reading and for your support.
