Fund Nepal Law Team's Jessup Journey

Donation protected
Every year, the world’s top law students gather in Washington, DC, to demonstrate their skill arguing a case before the International Court of Justice at the Jessup International Moot Court Competition. But this week, after the team from the Nepal Law Campus at Tribhuvan University spent a semester of grueling prep and won advancement in the national competition, the American embassy told them that the new administration’s policies meant they were breaking their promise to fund their trip to DC.

I competed in Jessup in law school and then served for years as a judge. I’ve seen student competitors become leading lawyers, politicians, and entrepreneurs. The competition brings together these future leaders of countries around the world to learn about justice and human rights. Now, since American leaders need a reminder about those topics, we’re going to have to step up to help keep a promise for these Nepali students.

GoFundMe doesn’t work in Nepal, so I’m collecting the donations, which I will use for airfare ($1,800/teammate) and hotel rooms (or let me know if you can host in the DC area March 29-April 5). The team consists of five students and their coach, but they understand they’ll likely need to disappoint some teammates (the minimum team size for the competition is two).

Please circulate widely – we need to buy the tickets soon!
