Will you help us make music making accessible to all?

When we started NEW Voices, our vision was to create an ensemble which could offer musical experiences of the highest quality to everyone and, above all, be accessible and inclusive.

With the help of United to Assist Refugees UK, our vocal ensemble has welcomed a number of refugees from Ukraine and elsewhere who will be singing with us in our performance - We Rise Together. The concert will be a musical celebration of Wrexham as a home for all, and will give a platform to musicians who've not had the opportunity to play or perform since being forced to leave their homes. We are incredibly excited to be joined by Polina Hor, a conductor who studied at Mariupol Music College in Ukraine as well as other musicians who will get the opportunity to perform alongside our professional NEW Sinfonia String Orchestra and NEW Voices.

Our project is partially funded by Wrexham2029, however we still need to raise a significant amount in order to cover the cost. Your contributions will help us cover the cost of hiring musicians, composers, and administrators, venue hire, front of house staff, music hire, and make our rehearsals and performance possible.

We can't wait to bring everyone together at St Giles Church in the heart of Wrexham to showcase the unifying power of music. We'll be performing two Ukrainian songs, Prayer for Ukraine by Mykola Lysenko and Ukrainian River Song by Roman Yakub, interwoved into a programme of music which brings us from darkness to dawn. We'll be performing classics such as Mozart’s Dies Irae, Barber’s profound Adagio for Strings, as well as Eric Jones’ uplifting Y Tangnefeddwyr, and the poignant spiritual Deep River. The concert will also feature favourites such as ‘Ar Hyd y Nos’ and will end with a congregational rendition of You’ll Never Walk Alone.

This project aims to celebrate Wrexham's diverse and inclusive culture through telling the stories of all who call Wrexham 'home'. We hope you will help us on our mission to bring professional and high quality musical experiences to everyone.
