Fund PS 294's Next Musical!

My name is Melanie Harrison-Milton (or, as I am known at PS 294, Ms. Harrison!) I am the founding theatre teacher at PS 294: The Walton Avenue School in the Bronx, NY. In the spring of 2022, we premiered our school's first ever musical to resounding success! Thirty 4th and 5th grade actors performed the entirety of Frozen KIDS; we even had a student stage crew working backstage and running our sound system (yes, that's right - a 4th grader ran our soundboard! That's just how we do things at 294!)

Experiencing the theatre production process was invaluable to our students' arts education. The musical also strengthened our school community and allowed us to welcome many proud, enthusiastic parents and families back into our school building.

Due to our school's budget being cut 12% this year, we will need to fundraise to bring back the PS 294 spring musical. This is where YOU come in! We are asking for your support to meet the following goals:

$600 will fund the license for our next school musical
$1900 will fund basic production needs like costumes, props, and set creation materials
Anything BEYOND our fundraising goal will fund additional enrichment experiences, like a trip to see a Broadway show! Many of our involved students have NEVER seen a theatrical production, so this would be a dream!

Last year we were able to provide EVERYTHING for our student artists. I believe that access to the arts should be free for our students and their families. We appreciate your support in keeping PS 294 an arts-rich school and our annual school musical alive!
