Support Rob's Struggle with Epilepsy
Donation protected
Hello! Rob Youngquist has been a part of my family since high school. Many of you know that Rob has suffered from epilepsy from a very young age. Epilepsy is incurable and Rob has a very complicated case. Rob recently underwent brain surgery where a device was implanted to provide treatment for his escalating epilepsy. Post-surgery, he had a series of seizures leaving him both physically and cognitively impaired and was placed in a short-term assisted living facility. He was discharged and cleared after a few weeks to live independently but he is struggling. Physically, he is much stronger but does have some balance issues that make him a falling risk. Cognitively, he has some speech challenges and his short-term memory has taken a major hit. His doctors believe that this damage done to his brain from the seizures is permanent. Right now, he has regular speech therapy and physical therapy so he is getting some really good professional assistance. However, general life tasks have proved more difficult than anticipated; predominantly, grocery shopping and meal prep.
Right now, Rob lives on his own, but we do mot know how long he will be able to continue this way. Our family is working hard to get multiple levels of support for Rob, and we know that Rob has many, many friends who are interested in helping in some way. Rob would be MORTIFIED if he knew I was doing this, but he needs all the support he can get. His hospital bills, long term care, etc. is incredibly expensive and we need to plan for his future.
I am hoping to raise some funds that can be used to provide a meal service for Rob, so he can have healthy meals delivered daily. Any extra funds will go towards Rob's care. He has been there for so many of us, so I am hoping that we can all chip in and help. This is a dire situation and while we are doing what we can as a family, we need more help.
If you are not able to donate financially, giving Rob a call, taking him to run errands or out for a healthy meal is always much appreciated! Our family truly appreciates any and all help we can get. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out to me. I have started a Caring Bridge page as well if you would like to follow Rob's health journey.
