Sea Girt U-19 Lifeguards named to TEAM USA!

The Sea Girt Junior Lifeguards are raising funds to help alleviate the cost of 3 of our (U-19) Athletes + 2 of our coaches that have been invited to compete on TEAM USA in Brisbane, Australia this August for the International Lifesaving Association Competition.

Our U-19 Athletes are Emily Sudol, Luke Sudol, and Ellison Barrows. All three of these athletes have been a part of our Junior Lifeguard Program since the Mini Guard Division at age 5! They have worked hard as runners, swimmers, and crafts including surf-ski and paddle board, to perfect their skills in open water and beach events.

Emily, Luke, and Ellison have most recently competed at the 2023 USLA Lifeguard National Championships in Virginia Beach. After extremely competitive results, the three were considered and named members of TEAM USA!

Emily competed in the A age group and placed 1st in the 2k Beach run, Board Race, Run-Swim-Run, Board Relay, Surf Race (Swim), Iron Guard, Rescue Race, and Surf team swim relay.

Luke competed in the A age group and placed 1st in the 2k beach run and Run-Swim-Run, 2nd in the Surf Race (swim), 3rd in the board relay, Rescue board relay, and Surf Team swim relay, 4th in Iron Guard, and 5th in the Board Race.

Ellison competed in the U-19 Division to place 6th in the iron-woman, 10th in the surf swim, 9th in the board race, and 10th in the surf-ski. Ellison was also a member of TEAM USA in 2023 at the International Lifesaving Association competition in Texas.

All three of these athletes have qualified to become first year lifeguards this year in Sea Girt. They have successfully completed the Regional Lifeguard Training Academy to officially become part of the Sea Girt Beach Patrol.

We are very excited for these athletes to compete on the International level! The cost to compete for Team USA is $1200 per athlete (including their uniforms, equipment rentals, hotel, meals, and local transportation) Flights are also quite expensive at $3,500 per athlete. Sea Girt Beach Patrol and Sea Girt Junior Lifeguards are organizing a GoFund me account collecting donations for our athletes and coaches (competing) to help offset their costs.
