Fund Teachers at Redmond Middle School

Why Does This Fundraiser Exist?
Hi, my name is Lydia Xiong. I am a student at Redmond Middle School. Recently something I have noticed is that teachers are paying out of their own pockets for things that students are asking for, that are not necessarily directly related to academics, that schools or districts are legally not allowed to pay for. Examples include fans, candy, prizes, certain school supplies, posters in the room etc. Teachers should not need to pay for things students want out of their own pocket. This fundraiser has previously been successful as we were able to raise $275 dollars and help 11 teachers to $25 QFC/Fred Meyer gift cards.
Students surely do appreciate the fact that teachers are continuing to meet their personal wants. Students surely would want teachers to continue their kindness and fulfill their desires to make the class enjoyable. However, since the sad reality is that teachers do not make as much as they deserve, they should be able to keep the underpaid money they make. Since they already may be struggling to pay for things in their personal life (like car loans, house loans, food, etc.), they surely need some help paying up to the wants of students.
That said, teachers should get a helping hand in meeting the wants of students. They should get some compensation back for things that they have paid with their own money for their students, and help them with some money to continue buying things for the enjoyment of their students. My goal is to raise enough for every classroom teacher to get at least $150 (just $25 dollars per teacher to start, $1000 since there are about 40 teachers in this school) to compensate for the money they have spent on students, and hopefully enough so they can live a more financially supported life.
Today, I would appreciate your help by compensating teachers for their lost money and helping them continue their voluntary kindness to students. Any amount is greatly appreciated to help teachers financially and continue their kindness in classrooms.
Which Schools will this fundraiser prioritize helping?
Of course, we will try to help as many schools as possible, but since this is a small fundraiser, we are unlikely to raise a lot of money, so we will focus on these schools first.
Redmond Middle School (this one)
Redmond High School
Issaquah High School (co-managed by Muskaan Chaudhry)
How can I help this fundraiser grow?
If you go to (or want to help) one of the other prioritized schools above (that are still available), you can become a co-manager of that school's fundraiser (besides Redmond Middle School (because I am managing that one) and Issaquah High School). What this means is that you will run this fundraiser just like I am running this one. You will help share the fundraiser to your friends in the school, write a description, and thank your donors. I will still be in charge of the fundraiser with you, but since there are 3 schools, and I as well, am a student (and very busy), I will need a helping hand. So, if you are interested in this position, you can reach out to me at s-[email redacted] or any other of my contacts if you have it (like phone number, skype, etc.)
Requirements:
Must have donated at least $15 in one of the fundraisers (that includes the one from earlier this year)
Must know a lot of people in the school
Must be willing to:
- Have your name on the fundraiser
- Write a description on why you are passionate/care about teachers' financial life
- Write a description on why you think this is important
- Update your friends on who donated, fundraiser balance, and any other important stuff
- Write thank you notes to donors
- Whatever else I may need you to do
