Fund the A Love Supreme Documentary

UPDATE - December 2021 - A Love Supreme: Black, Queer and Christian in The South has resumed production after almost two years of being shutdown due to COVID. Through the end of 2022, we'll continue filming with the families we've been following since 2016, and building out our impact campaign. 

Your donation helps to cover basic production expenses - camera rental, hotel, rental car etc.

In 2019 and early 2020, we continued filming with and learning from the families that have graciously entrusted us with their stories. We raised $215,000 raised to date, to fund our vision. On behalf of A Love Supreme, the Ford Foundation nominated Co-Director Katina Parker for the Rockwood JustFilms Fellowship. Rev. Kyndra Frazier was invited to lecture on the impact of religious trauma by Gilead Sciences and Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conferences. In May 2019, we launched our own fellowship program, in conjunction with Wake Forest University's Divinity School. Students researched resources for our forthcoming spiritual health and wellness app targeting LGBTQ people, and developed curriculum for our impact campaign, through which A Love Supreme has set the goal of providing healing resources to 1,000,000 Black LGBTQ people and their families, over a 5-year period.  In 2022, we'll wrap production and launch our app - funding contingent. We'll have lots of exciting announcements along the way.


OUR STORY & OUR ASK
A Love Supreme: Black, Queer and Christian in The South is a long-overdue heart-to-heart between Black LGBTQ people, our families and the Black Church. Co-directed by Katina Parker and the Rev. Kyndra Frazier, A Love Supreme is an episodic series that follows 8 Black LGBTQ people and their families as they reconcile their deep love for one another with the religious bigotry they learned from the pulpit. Through A Love Supreme's impact campaign, healing resources will be offered to 1,000,000 Black LGBTQ people and their families. A Love Supreme will make its theatrical and broadcast debut during 2023.

To date, A Love Supreme has raised $215,000 from Saydeah Howard of Brown Sugar Griots, Peace Development Fund, Brit Doc Society, Southern Documentary Fund, the Alfred and Josette Glover Foundation, Made in North Carolina Film Fund,  and several private donors. We are currently being considered for several grants to fund completion of the doc series, our promotional video campaign and the launch of the Reconciling Families Impact Campaign.
