I received a call on 04/02/2023 at 7:35 PM and the nurse asked me “your dad was on hospice right?” I responded “no he wasn’t” the nurse said “well.. I have news for you. Your dad passed you can come see him”
I’m making this post to let everyone know my dad did not just pass away my dad was left to die at the time he needed help the most. On Saturday afternoon my dad was rushed to the hospital from parkwood nursing and they diagnosed him as an opioid overdose. He returned to the facility early on Sunday morning and he had been sleeping the whole day. The staff taking care of him took it upon themselves to assume he was there on hospice due to someone listening in on a private conversation with me and a different nurse that was not about hospice and he never had his hospice evaluation. The facility taking care of him parkwood skilled nursing staff left him when he needed CPR and when EMTs got there my dad was left alone as he was dying and it took them 10 minutes just to find the nurse who called 911 because she was outside on the smoking patio. The staff took it upon themselves to assume my dad was not worth saving when he was making improvement and getting better. My dad was able to stand on his own he was being told he only needed a few more days and that he would be coming home from the physical therapist in this facility.. There was no paper work to even suggesting he was a DNR. My dad unfortunately passed due to someone’s assumption and the head nurse that made this call looked at me in the face and said “well mistakes happen” this was no mistake. This was a choice to be a medical professional and walk away from someone when they needed you the most. My dads fate was decided for him even though my boy was the hardest fighter there was. He had shown every sign possible he was there to fight for his life back just for someone to rob him of his. I’ll never get to know if my dad could be strong enough to walk again. I’ll never know if my dad could beat this sickness we were fighting so hard to get through. I’ll never get to see my dad again due to a ‘mistake’. My dad Briten Gilbert Senior was only 52 he had a whole life ahead of him. There are many defenseless people in these same conditions under trained medical staff and ‘mistakes’ like these should not happen. One thing I hope from my dads death is to shed light on horrible caretakers/nursing homes. His death will not be for nothing and with this I hope he can save someone’s life because my dad is and forever will be a hero.
the staff responsible for this ‘mistake’ was Nigeria H. And Robin P. Robin had quit her job after she let him pass and made the call to not preform cpr
Pictured below is a form from his visit there in 2021 saying he was a full code and to be revived. There had been no updates and hospice evaluation at all ever for my dad.
In the video below you have me, Alexis Nicole Valdespino and the director of parkwood named Paul talking and he admits his staff walked away.
His death was no accident and it was not his time. Please if you read this share this and it could potentially save someone’s loved one from having to suffer the way mine did.
Dad (Brit Gilbert) I’m so sorry this happened but you will see justice soon. If that’s the one gift I can give you it will be that you died to save someone and I love you.
