I have completed an exciting musical based on Nelly Bly and Elizabeth Bisland, who were involved in a race around the world in the 1890s in America. Nelly Bly was the first woman to work as a professional undercover journalist. One of her first assignments was to infiltrate a questionable woman's insane asylum. Elizabeth Bisland, self-taught via her father's forbidden home library, had a successful career as a literary writer and editor. They both paved the way for future women to be taken seriously as professional journalists and writers. Oddly, the two never met.
