Fund The Philly Flamingo

Donation protected
We welcome you to meet the newest member of Philly, Manayunk’s very own mascot, the Pink Flamingo. A hand crafted flamingo sculpture, soaring 18 ft in height (pinky is 15ft tall, enhanced by a 3ft concrete base) made of powder coated steel with a vibrant hot pink color, and a kinetic head that NEVER stops nodding. Fredrick Prescott is an incredible artist based out of Santa Fe, New Mexico who dedicated his life to creating lively animal sculptures that are featured all around the world. My father met Fred at an arts festival that took place on main street in 2016. After hearing Fred’s story about one of his masterpieces down in Florida thats featured in a museum, my father decided that Philly deserves one just like it but only doubled in size and available to the public eye. The biggest moving art sculpture on the northeast coast will be arriving soon here on Main street next to our ice cream shop for all to see.

We are Chloe’s Corner, a family owned and operated ice cream parlor for 25+ years on Main street in Philadelphia, in the heart of manayunk. We pride ourselves in selling some of the best and well known products locally sourced in the greater philadelphia area such as Bassetts ice cream and Via Veneto Italian Ice who like us started from the bottom. We have endured 2 recessions, 7 floods, several snowstorms, 23 winters being closed, 2+ years dormit under renovation, and a global pandemic. Needless to say, it was not easy. Enduring all of this over the past 25 years took hard work as well as fierce dedication. We persevered and pushed through. This has been quite a journey and because of your support we are still here.

We recognize how blessed we are to still be in business. We hold space in our hearts for every being in this community and beyond who lost their life, loved one or business during this uncertain time. We realized it was fate that the Flamingo was being brought to us at this time. Not only is she is a symbol of strength and survival but she is coming to commend everyone on their perseverance through all of their own personal hardships. Pinky is here to remind us to keep pushing, keep going, keep helping our neighbors because there is a light at the end of the tunnel, she is our light and we welcome her to be yours too. Pinky will be her temporary name until she warms up to us, and we can all decide on a permanent name for her at a later time, together. We are extending an invite for one and all to come join us for her unveiling. The approximate date is October 28th (we will let you know the exact date soon) which is only a few short weeks away! We have been paying for the Flamingo as much as we could for the past 5 years. The balance we owe for the construction of the base and the remaining balance of the flamingo itself totals $23,500. Let’s welcome her into this amazing city with open hearts, and show her what true pride looks like! With your generous donations big or small you can help make this dream become a reality and be apart of history in the making. The generations to come will be inspired by their ancestors, who were both dreamers and adventure seekers proving that anything is possible. Pinky will be Philly’s biggest and brightest statue that will represent joy and unity for people of all ages and all walks of life. Thank you in advance for your donations and we hope to see you on the day of her unveiling. Follow us as we will be posting important dates on our media pages!
