Fund the rescue of 10 severely neglected Wirral dogs

UPDATE: Three more dogs were rescued from the address later on after the original seven, totally 10 dogs. These dogs are in a very poor condition.

Funds are urgently needed for the rescue of seven severely neglected dogs that have been living in terrible conditions in a Wirral house. One was in a critical condition with rubbish stuck in her gut from trying to survive because the dogs were starved for days at a time (as owner admits).

Paddy the Caucasian Shepherd, Wilby, Smooch, Trigger, Ice, Sapphire and Bonnie were taken in on December 10 after a rescuer convinced the owner to hand them over.

Pawprints to Freedom stepped in and arranged the transport which had to be from a professional trained to handle dogs in case they were reactive - this cost £300. One dog was able to go into the rescue's kennels but due to lack of space the others went into emergency boarding being funded by Pawprints which will cost £647 a week.

It's unclear how long the dogs will be in boarding for. The dogs' behaviour need to be assessed by professionals before they can be up for fostering or adoption. Rescue space is extremely limited with the ongoing animal abandoment crisis. The dogs may also need veterinary care. The rescue of these dogs could run into thousands.

Concerned people had been reporting the neglect to the RSPCA since 2019 with no action being taken.

We've been told two dogs were outside all the time and kept in small cages with five inside. Crying and scratching noises could be heard suggesting the dogs were kept in cages for long periods of time. The yard is thick with faeces and the dogs were said to be eating their own poo. I saw faeces left in the hallway. Neighbours had not seen the dogs suggesting they weren't being walked.

The three dogs taken later on in the day include an 18 month staffy cross and two mixed breed dogs. All were very friendly and wanting cuddles with me in the car. Real sweethearts despite their ordeal.

The staffy looks like he has a severe skin condition and the other two had large patches of extremely thinning fur.
