Fund the Westside Neighbors Shelter for 2024!

Pearsall Properties is excited to facilitate support for the Westside Neighbors Shelter this winter, with the goal of funding their fixed costs for $36,000, the annual fixed cost of keeping the shelter open.

If you’ve never heard of this organization, it’s the only cold weather shelter available from Alki Point down to Burien with a SW address run by an incredible man, Keith Hughes. The shelter currently operates 7 nights/days per week from around October to March and serves up to 25 people per night with meals, warm showers, laundry services and a safe, dry, warm place to sleep during the winter months. There are no paid staff. Keith runs this entire program himself and with the help of a handful of volunteers and donations. He often withdrawals money from his own 401k to keep the operation running.

We want to help Keith who has done so much for our community and it’s time that we help make it easier for him to do this important work.

During weather events, Keith provides dozens of people refuge, a hot breakfast and dinner and a place to get cleaned up. He does this while spending 24 hrs a day there, sleeping in his office.

“Keep the Heat On” literally means being able to pay the gas, electric, water and sewer bills, insurance, and building maintenance (like cleaning supplies). He can’t keep doing it without our help. Every dollar makes a difference.
