Help Theresa recover from car attack injuries

Donation protected
Theresa Evans was intentionally hit by a truck that drove over the curb into a peaceful protest, the evening of January 26, 2022 in Tacoma, Washington. Theresa was on the sidewalk in support of unhoused individuals, in front of an event held by TacomaSafe an organization who supports a camping ban, (meeting to discuss crime across the city, per an attendee of the meeting.) (Per an Associated Press article released an hr ago, 1/28/22, the meeting addressed break-ins, vandalism, and homeless encampments. Attending were Mayor Woodards and new police chief Avery Moore.) Witnesses reported that the attack was clearly intentional and the latest in a series of car attacks engaged to terrorize and injure innocent people peacefully protesting.

Theresa was initially transported to St. Joe's Hospital in Tacoma and then to Harborview in Seattle due to the extent of her injuries.
Theresa suffered from an arterial bleed, a severely broken pelvis, a concusion, and many cuts and bruises. She is in surgery now, as of this writing, to rebuild her pelvis. This surgery will either secure her pelvis on the outside until her swelling goes down or secure her pelvis internally. At Harborview I was told she may have the second surgery later and implied the length and painfulness of her recovery. An urologist is overseeing for any possible organ injuries near her pelvis.
At St Joe's she was just repeating, "Help me, help me, help me." Really quiet.
At Harborview ER she knew me and would ask for things for me to do for her. She mostly wanted to move and was not allowed, to keep her safest. I was allowed to massage her calves.

Theresa is a 49 year old resident of Tacoma's Eastside where she lives with her husband of 20+ years and their elder teen son, whom she homeschools. Theresa takes joy in renovating their home where she has an abundance of fruits and vegetables she enjoys cultivating, including a beautiful grape arbor and some impressively robust cabbage of which she is proud. Theresa impressively holds two mathematics degrees and makes her living through math tutoring and grant writing, for which she has always focused on local community projects like Little Free Libraries. Theresa was very excited to recently submit a grant to tell stories of Tacoma residents, their lives, hopes and dreams.

Theresa's community contributions are extensive. She has long supported her local unhoused McKinley Hill neighbors by visiting with food and supplies and removing trash. As a Dominican Associate Theresa loves to visit with her elders, learn their stories, and provide friendship. As a master gardener, Theresa loves to work at Swan Creek Food Forest, helping to grow food for her neighbors in an impoverished community with a lack of grocery stores. Friends know Theresa to be a gatherer of people celebrating new growth in Spring and the Fall harvest bringing together people she has met in the community.

Her love for others and her passion to make the world a better and more just place is evident in how Theresa has chosen to spend her time and her talents. Her contributions to the community have been significant.

Theresa has made a difference in the lives of many individuals and now needs out help.  Theresa will be unable to work for an extended period of time due to the extent and severity of her injuries and lose all income.  She is also facing massive medical bills and costs due to the attack on January 26, 2022.  Her husband and son will be preoccupied with supporting Theresa and her recovery and funds that go to Theresa for her support will ease their burden and make it easier for her family to move on after this vicious attack.  As Theresa's twin, I ask that you give what you can to show Theresa, Lesley, and Owen our love and support.
