Help John Abalos and daughters - Lahaina fire
Donation protected
Please also consider donating to our Mama Linda and Auntie Leonore who lost their homes in the fire:
My sisters and I took our annual 3 week trip to visit our dad and our family in Lahaina. We lost both our family homes we had on Front Street to the fire.
We left unknowingly that morning for a beach day thinking the fire had been 100% contained since that was on the news, however it had suddenly reignited and by the time we heard the evacuation notice all roads were blocked and they wouldn’t let us back into Lahaina.
With no electricity since the night before and no cell reception, we made it to an evacuation center where we stayed for 2 days trying to locate family on the west side of the island and make contact with the family on the other side and mainland who were worried about us. Once we were able to reunite with our family, Maui Prep was evacuated and we were able to evacuate to Kahului where we finally had power and cell reception.
All of our belongings were destroyed other than what we had taken with us to the beach that morning, including our dad’s truck that he depends on for his entire income and business. Our dad lost everything he had, including all electronics, clothes, family memorabilia, personal and business documents, etc.
Any donations will be put towards helping our dad get back onto his feet, as well as assist with replacing items we have all lost. They will also help with offsetting costs to get us back home.
We are so incredibly grateful for any help that we may receive, thank you to everyone who donates or helps share this.
