Fund Trans Joy! (FFS surgery recovery fund)

Hey yall!

My names Tyler and I'm a transfemme indigenous person born and raised in San Francisco. I'm asking for the help of my friends, family, and queer community as I schedule a big step in my transgender journey!

Tl;Dr I'm asking for help to cover costs related to my 1-2 month recovery from facial femization therapy (FFS). After having to suddenly leave a toxic, transphobic, and unhealthy work environment I had to rely on savings to cover day to day costs. Leaving me without the funds that I had planned to use to cover the cost of my FFS recovery. Funds gathered here would go towards rent and other every day costs during this time.

I started on estogen based hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in late 2019 to help treat my gender dysphoria. After 2 years on HRT, I decided I wanted to pursue the option of facial feminzation surgery to further treat my dysphoria. And so I've spent the past year battling with my insurance, pharmacies, therapists, and doctors offices, jumping through all the hoops and filling out mounds of paperwork trying to find the right surgical team to help me. After months of searching I finally found a group that would accept my insurance and that had surgeons I wanted to work with! I thought the hard portion of this journey was over!

Unfortunately I hit a major obstacle in late October of this year. My work environment radically changed for the worse when management changed following the sudden departure of the general manager. The increasingly toxic, transphobic, and severely mismanaged environment culminated in me having a very scary and very public panic attack at work. After a couple of days of considering my options I decided that for my mental and physical well being and safety I needed to leave my current position immediately. And while I am now happily employed again the job search took a longer than anticipated forcing me to tap into my savings. The same savings that I held on to for years, and even through the pandemic with the hopes of using it to cover costs during the month and a half recovery period where I'll be unable to work.

Now getting to the point of where you all can help! This gofundme and any of its proceeds will go towards helping me cover vital costs during my long recovery! Including: rent, bills, groceries, medication, recovery care products, travel (to and from clinic for post -op check ups), etc. If you've made it this far thanks for taking the time to read all that!
