Travel insurance for making family memories
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sarah and I’m 35 years old. I’m a mum to 2 year old Reggie, wife to Dan and a secondary school teacher. In March 2022 I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer, and went through chemotherapy, immunotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy. I responded so well to treatment and had a complete pathological response. However, this year after suffering from dizziness and headaches, it was discovered that I have a 13mm frontal lobe tumour in my brain. Despite having such a good response to treatment first time around, chemotherapy can’t penetrate the blood brain barrier and unfortunately some cells made their way up my neck and into my brain.
At this point I am no longer curative. But I do still have options and will be beginning with radiotherapy to the area this month and surgery may also be an option if that doesn’t work. But I now live with the daily fear of having a stroke, falling, seizures, and everything in my life being affected that my brain controls. To try and keep sane I am still working when I can from home, as anyone who knows me knows I’m a massive workaholic! I hope to return to the classroom eventually, all being well.
Ultimately, I want to make lasting memories with my little family whilst I am able to but one huge barrier to this is obtaining travel insurance. We have not been on a family abroad holiday since Reggie was born, and we would like to take him away to Turkey this summer all being well. I also want to make a pilgrimage to Lourdes.
Travel insurance for someone in my condition has been quoted anywhere in the region of £2k - £4k for an annual policy, which I would need.
I do not want to beg and I know everyone is struggling at the moment. But if you would like to contribute towards the insurance your support would mean the literal world to me and my family.
Thank you, Sarah x
