Recover Morgue’s Local Covid Mitigation Costs

Howdy!

(My partner in building CR Boxes. She likes to help and eat the cardboard corners.)

You may know me as Morgue, and if you know me TOO well, that I’m also quite passionate about Air Quality and Viral Mitigation. I’ll get right to the point:

-I’m starting this fund because my mitigation expansion has incurred a bit of debt. I’m late on my rent and card payments, and this fund is for money I have already invested.

-This money has gone to expanding my work in mitigation through purchasing tools, supplies, and masks, as well as building DIY air purifiers.

-I did this to meet a need I saw in community events that I attended. Poor masking and poor air filtration was prominent, and continue to be very common due to poor government communication on Covid mitigation.

-All these tools and purifiers have been (and will continue to be) utilized in my local community to lower the risk of Covid-19 transmission.

-Most of the specific tools this money was spent on can be found at the bottom of this page. Not listed is gas money I’ve spent for transport and travel to events mitigation tools were used and maker spaces whose tools I’ve utilized in the build process.

Thanks for taking a look! Any amount would go a long way, or just sharing this! Below is the long version talking about the specific steps and tools purchased, as well as some photos.

MORE INFO:

I learned about DIY air purifiers and high quality masks about 3 years ago from twitch streamer @Homozygoat, a PhD candidate at University of Vermont. With the support of him and his community, I dove deeper into mitigation, and have found myself in a local makerspace happy to assist me while I experiment further in this area.

1. Built 2 additional Corsi-Rosenthal boxes (a DIY, portable air purifier which is lightweight, effective and mobile.) These were 2 filter builds. I also replaced the filters in my existing standard 4 filter build.
2. Bought masks in a few different sizes rated for covid protection (KF94, KN94, N95 and up) to use at indoor event.
3. Purchased a reputable CO2 meter second hand (CO2 is used in mitigation to measure air quality, and to give one an idea to how effective air purifiers are working. Mine also has software that tracks the data!)
4. Got in contact with local libraries and makerspaces to both introduce myself to the community and to utilize 3D printing as a tool to protect and make the tools above more efficient in future builds.
5. Wrapped all the above together to create a cohesive system of monitoring air quality during their usage, whether I’m there or not.

Two 3D printer Aranet 4 protectors.
CR Box assembly guides being printed. I’m scraping thru open-source mask and air purifier designs by others to test how effective they are. CR Box ones look promising!
Second-hand Aranet 4 from Ebay fresh on arrival, and the first failed print for the case.
