Donation protected
In lieu of flowers please consider donating to this fund. We will use the funds to sponsor children in a school located in our mom’s hometown, Jamundi called Colegio Baha’I Simmons. The school was founded by Ines and Thomas Simmons who were the first to introduce her and her mother to the Baha’i Faith when my mom was 11 years old.
Our mother, our first and foremost educator, believed in the importance of education and was especially passionate about developing a spiritual foundation within young children and youth; so they understand that the purpose of this material world is to know and to love God and to serve humanity. That through their actions “the betterment of the world can be accomplished through pure and goodly deeds and through commendable and seemly conduct.”
COLEGIO BAHA'I SIMMONS
Mission
To train children and adolescents with skills and capacities to access scientific, technological, artistic and spiritual knowledge, based on the principles and teachings of the Bahá'í Faith, developing in them the capacity and ability of engaging them in initiatives of development and service in their community.
“Considerad al hombre como una mina, rica en gemas de valor inestimable. Solamente la educación puede hacerle revelar sus tesoros y permitir a la humanidad beneficiarse de éstos."
“Regard man as a mine rich in gems of inestimable value. Education can, alone, cause it to reveal its treasures, and enable mankind to benefit therefrom.”
-From the Baha’i Writings
We are very grateful for your generosity, your loving support, prayers and thoughts.
