We are The Babel Manoeuvre, a new theatre ensemble based in France, founded by Brennen Amonett, Juliana de Aragão, and John Harper. We are seeking your help to fund the creation of our company and its very first tour across Europe with our brand-new show, Without Verona Walls.

This project is the result of months of work across international boundaries and decades of training, and we believe is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to share our work with audiences from backgrounds we've never reached before. At a time when so much of our world is suffering alone in darkness, we believe that theatre can be a light.

About Us:

Brennen Amonett is an award-nominated actor and musician who has trained and worked with theatrical innovators in the United States, the United Kingdom, and across Europe. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Arts and International Studies, and the bulk of his professional background is in Shakespearean performance. Affinities for country music, alternative comedy, and ice cream are all great influences in his new endeavor with The Babel Manoeuvre and their new show, Without Verona Walls.

Juliana de Aragão is a Brazilian actor, writer and film director. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she studied Meisner and Grotowsky techniques at the Experimental Theatre Wing. She has also studied Shakespeare at the Drama Centre in London and physical theatre at the Jacques Lecoq school in Paris. She is also a musician, tennis player, singer and a rookie stand up comedian.

John Harper is an actor and writer, who studied writing for performance at Ruskin College, Oxford, and studied acting at the International Theatre School of Jacques Lecoq in Paris. He also taught English literature for many years and has a passion for classic texts. John hosts a podcast about laughter, which is unsurprising as one of his greatest pastimes is laughing hysterically.

About our show:

WITHOUT VERONA WALLS

Romeo has been banished from Verona after killing the cousin of his forbidden lover, Juliet. In Mantua, he meets fellow exiles who are forced in isolation to consider suffering, loneliness, ice cream, and free will. An absurd tragicomedy with music, inspired by William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

Brennen Amonett est un comédien et un musicien nominé. Il s'est formé et a travaillé avec des innovateurs théâtraux aux États-Unis, au Royaume-Uni et dans toute l'Europe. Il est titulaire d'un bachelor en art dramatique et études internationales, et l'essentiel de son expérience professionnelle porte sur l'interprétation de Shakespeare. Ses affinités pour la musique country, la comédie alternative et la crème glacée sont autant d'influences qui l'amènent à travailler avec The Babel Manoeuvre et leur nouveau spectacle, Without Verona Walls (Sans les murs de Vérone).

Juliana de Aragão est une comédienne, scénariste et réalisatrice brésilienne. Elle est titulaire d'un bachelor of fine arts de la Tisch School of the Arts de l'université de New York, où elle a étudié les techniques Meisner et Grotowsky à l'Experimental Theatre Wing. Elle a également étudié le classique au Drama Centre de Londres et le théâtre du corps à l'école Jacques Lecoq de Paris. Elle est danseuse, joueuse de tennis, chanteuse et humoriste de stand-up à l'occasion.

John Harper est un comédien et un écrivain qui a étudié l'écriture de plateau au Ruskin College, à Oxford, et le théâtre à l'École internationale de théâtre Jacques Lecoq à Paris. Il a également enseigné la littérature anglaise pendant de nombreuses années et se passionne pour les textes classiques. John anime un podcast sur le rire, ce qui n'est pas surprenant puisque l'un de ses plus grands hobbies est de céder au fou-rire.

Roméo a été banni de Vérone après avoir tué le cousin de sa bien aimée, Juliette. À Mantoue, il rencontre d'autres personnes exilées qui sont contraintes de s'isoler pendant qu'elles examinent leur solitude, leur libre arbitre et leur choix de crème glacée. Une tragi-comédie absurde et musicale, inspirée de Roméo et Juliette de William Shakespeare.
