A Developing Story: "Here Comes the Storybook Man!"

"Greetings!

This is performing arts storyteller, J'miah Nabawi. Many of you in Savannah (GA), Boston (MA), Philly (PA) and Miami (FL) have known my work over the years and how much I TRULY ENJOY, LOVE, performing for children and family audiences.

Here's what's up for me this summer and on into the Fall-Winter-Spring 2024-2025 school year.

With Team Books for Growing Minds Storybooks Alive! it will be ALL ABOUT BOOKS--READING BOOKS ALOUD, PERFORMING BOOKS FROM THEIR PRINTED PAGES, PRESENTING STORYBOOKS IMPROV WORKSHOPS, AND MORE!

Join us in this mission to present Books for Growing Minds Storybooks Alive! to Savannah and its surrounding communities where children and their families and the general public will be able to take part in the lively summertime vacation reading kick-off "Books and Reading" events and then on into the coming school year (2025).

Grass-roots community-based organizations and city and state-run agencies that provide social services to children and families; manage women shelters; our military veterans and their families; and provide facilities and services for the homeless and unhoused, underserved rural, migrant, and immigrant communities, to get involved as “Location Sites” for this program. There will be no artist performance fees, honorariums, or materials cost for you for this program. We encourage you to apply to be a “presentation location site” for your constituency at no cost.

Team Books for Growing Minds Storybooks Alive! is passionate about family literacy and making books and reading fun and accessible to all.

Yes! This summer 2024 reshapes my calendar more as an Ambassador for Books through Books for Growing Minds Storybooks Alive! and it's all about BOOKS! BOOKS! And READINGS BOOKS ALOUD to encourage and support "reading by third grade" national programs. Our goal starting out is to raise funds to be able to purchase at least 1000 books to give away during outdoor, classroom, and school Book Fairs events, obtain materials, supplies, and equipment for outdoor programs, and secure liability insurance for Books for Growing Minds Storybooks Alive! on-site presentations and culminating summer public events.

UPDATE! May 10, 2024, Mothers' Day Weekend. Thanks to the friends and family iPHONE users using Apple Pay, we received $1500 in donations. YES! And we will be including graphic novels for teens and encourage families to suggest titles they may not have been able to get, purchase. Our goal is now at $6,000.00 which will provide more books for at least 1000 participant as well look forward to the 2025 school year and school book fairs up to our next Summer Reading Out Loud community programming.
