Funding Cindy’s Return Home

Donation protected
My name is Jim, and I’ve started this Gofund me for my wonderful wife Cindy.

Cindy is the strongest woman I know. For the last twenty years, Cindy has overcome barriers from her cerebella ataxia- a progressively worsening disease impacting her motor function. Throughout this journey, we have modified our lives and home to keep her as happy, mobile and independent as possible. However the past six months has presented unexpected challenges.

In June, Cindy suffered a heart attack. Later in the year in August Cindy suffered a subdural hematoma limiting her core strength, lower and upper body strength on her dominant side, hand function and mobility. She has been the most graceful, and hardworking rehab patient: undergoing immobility, loss of independence and relearning the basics of walking, eating and communicating again.

We are reaching the finish line for the longest marathon of Cindy’s rehab- returning home at last! However there are some further modifications and equipment her rehab team is recommending for optimal independence and quality of life in the long term. We are trying to raise money for a handicap accessible van as well as other equipment so Cindy can toilet, go on social outings, make it to essential doctors appointments…. The accessibility equipment we cannot currently afford- well it would be priceless to Cindy and my family.

Thank you all for your ongoing support and please follow this page for updates on Cindy’s rehab.
