Funding for LAMDA (drama school)
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Tateyana Arutura. I am currently enrolled at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (Lamda), for the MFA Professional Acting Course. I have been studying here since September 2022 and I set up this gofundme to fund my tuition fees for my first year (the course is two years), set at £13,765.
I am due to pay £13,765 this year in installments. Next year (my second and final year of studies) I am due to pay £9176 (plus the inflationary rise), in 3 instalments.
LAMDA offers a final-year scholarship to eligible students if they pay their first-year tuition fees on time. I intend on applying for this scholarship but I am currently struggling to fund my first year. I am from Ireland and I have had to relocate to London for my studies. The total amount is unprecedented and along with the tuition fees and living costs, I cannot afford it.
I am reaching out to anyone who could afford to donate any amount of money to help me fund my time at the School. Unfortunately, the school halted the scholarship application process before they offered me the place. I have also applied for UK-based scholarships since September but I have been unsuccessful in my pursuits because I am from Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland's funding of the Arts and NI postgraduate loans in general, are virtually non-existent and a massive factor of why I cannot afford to pay the fees. They offer less than half of the UK's postgraduate loan.
As I have expressed, I do not have the financial capabilities to fund this myself. However, I would be completely devastated to give up now due to a lack of funds. I worked so hard to be offered a place (attending various auditions and interviews to prove to the school I am worthy of being on this course), and I have continued to work immensely hard while studying at LAMDA. My first term has been indispensable, I've been learning so much and experiencing the rare opportunity of working alongside other passionate and talented actors. This training is invaluable for me as a professional actor, therefore I would be devastated to be kicked off the course due to financial circumstances.
For as long as I can remember I have always been passionate about the art of acting and the utmost dedication it requires. I pride myself on always working relentlessly to get myself from A to B, through adapting to new environments and challenges as well as a great deal of tenacity. I wholeheartedly believe that with the thorough training LAMDA provides; I can master my attributes as well as methods and technique. I am more than willing to dedicate my whole life to this art and I intend to continue utilising this course to the best of my ability so that I may gain the most from it and hone my craft. So I ask you, the reader, if you could please help me achieve my dream of completing my training at one of the best specialist drama schools in the country. It would mean the world to me.
