Hello
Last year we lost our beautiful, amazing 13 year old son to a cardiac arrest due to a sudden onset asthma attack. It was his first ever sign of asthma. It was triggered by multiple viruses in his system of which he had no symptoms. This could happen to anyone given the perfect storm.
It was a sunny Sunday morning just before everyone was up. My husband and I heard a noise and ran to our son. We struggled to wake him and knew something was very wrong. As I was running for a phone my husband felt our son’s heart stop. He is an emergency services worker and experienced in cpr, so started immediately. In the minutes that followed he managed to restart our son’s heart a number of times however we had no defib to return it to its normal rhythm. We are both defib trained and knew time was of the essence, the main aim is to get a defib on ideally as soon as possible but within 3-5minutes to significantly improve your chances.
Sadly if you live on Northmoor or Northport two of our biggest residential areas in Wareham there are no defib's within quick reach. Now if you search the locations of those available it doesn’t look too bad but when you factor in the journey there and back plus making the call to get the pin to open it, It’s simply not quick enough.
We would like to raise money to purchase, install and maintain a number of devices in shauns memory in the wareham area to help someone when they may need it most.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and we would be greatful for any donations received.
