Funding Maurice's Final Farewell and Legacy

Donation protected

Hello everyone, my name is Heather Fernandez. I am a teacher at Bartram High School. I am writing this go fund me on behalf of Maurice White Quann's family.

On Thursday, July 4th, our dear Maurice (Maur) White Quann tragically and senselessly lost his life to gun violence in a mass shooting when a gunman opened fire into a crowd of people celebrating the 4th of July holiday. Maurice, a 19 yr old student attending Bartram High School, was set to graduate high school at the end of July.

Maurice was excited and looking forward to his future. Maurice enjoyed performing, dancing and entertaining others. He was against gun violence, and wanted a safe place for young people to listen to music, dance and enjoy each other’s company without fear. Maurice was excited about pursuing a career in party entertainment. He had goals, but most importantly, Maur wanted to bring the joy of music to everyone.

Maurice had said that music is what helped him get through the loss of his mother, who he lost two years ago in a tragic car accident along with another close family member. Instead of giving up, he used the memory of his mother to push him into completing high school and was determined to make his mom proud. Once he made this decision, he worked hard, staying late after school daily to get extra help with his classes and even though he knew he had to finish his last two classes during summer school, he continued to push himself, refusing to give up, while also supporting his friends during the school year. Maurice pushed them to go to school and make sure they all graduated on time. And as they graduated and walked across the stage, this beautiful soul cheered them on, knowing he would be doing the same at the end of July.

His family, friends, teachers and all the staff at Bartram High School were so proud of how hard he was working and were all cheering him on the same way he selflessly did for his peers.

Maurice was that type of kid who always thought of others. He was the life of the party, often in the middle of the dance party. Maurice was full of life and often lit up any room he entered. He made so many memories in his short time on this Earth. Maurice’s family, friends and the entire Bartram family are all feeling this loss.

Due to this unexpected tragedy, Maurice’s family (Siblings, Aunts, Uncles etc) are now planning his funeral services instead of celebrating him graduating from high school, which is an expense family wasn't planning on. We are asking for financial support to help cover the costs to lay him to rest. Our goal is to make sure these expenses are covered. If any money is left over, we would like to set up a scholarship fund for future Bartram students graduating high school in Maur’s name or donate to a program to support safe areas in the City of Philadelphia, that are gun free zones, and support nonviolence initiatives for kids to go and enjoy music the way Maurice did. Please help us with this endeavor, and donate whatever you can, as well as share this on social media. Maurice deserves this send off. Please help us achieve our goal.
