Funding Sri Adi Shankara Vidyalaya School, India

Donation protected

My name is David. I am asking you to donate to the Sri Adi Shankara Vidyalaya School in India (formerly Naksh School). A school for autistic and/or poor children.
In Western countries, we take education and job opportunities for granted.
In India, and many more countries only a few have the money and the opportunity to go to school. When they become breadwinners, they support their whole family, reducing poverty, especially if they are able and qualified to secure a good job.
Sri Adi Shankara Vidyalaya School is attempting to give education and the chance of a better future.
What for you is the price of a meal, is a life-changing gift for these children.
Your donation and your sharing of this crowdfunding with others will help give those with few chances and choices in life, a brighter and more prosperous future.

Sri Adi Shankara Vidyalaya is a school situated in Uttrakhand in the Himalayan region and run under the Bharti Devi Educational Foundation (NGO).
Kamlesh Kumar founded the school when he realised that there were no schools for children with special needs in this region. He started offering poor and autistic
children free education, accommodation and food as well as for transport to be able to attend classes and travel between their homes and the school.
In future, the school wishes to add medical support, appropriate therapy and other essential needs. Currently, the team consists of 5 staff members who are currently taking care of 103 children, 52 with special needs, in the recently built new classroom. With your donations, a dormitory building will be built to allow children who live a long way from the school, to stay overnight.
Expenses are rising daily, and because the school is falling short of resources, donations are more than welcome.

The recently built schoolroom
Bharathi Devi Educational Foundation, a small network of 2-3 family and friends, is supporting a very important social cause, aided by your large benevolent kind philanthropic hearts, as well as by timely contributions from International Organizations such as “ Jimmy Org Build a School Foundation“.
We have been able to build a small foundational school and centre of education to help our local destitute, orphan and impoverished children of Uttarakhand (Kotdwar Pauri Garhwal).
Amongst the destitute children, some are also diagnosed as dyslexic children and some also have other acute learning disabilities including ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).

With financial help from Jimmy’s Organisation and all your kind benevolent hearts, we bought a small plot of land (1400 square metres) in Uttarakhand and have built a small 2 School classroom.

Recent changes
During 2023 the building of the new class room was completed in the beginning of December. No sooner was the new building functional, an extra 51 students enlisted in the school, making a present total 0f 103 students. Thankfully the 51 extra students were not mentally and physically challenged as the 52 others, but it meant that the three teachers had to give three classes each day.
Soon afterwards a bus was bought to transport the students to and from the school and their homes and most recently a road or path was laid from the road, making it much easier for students with mobility problems to access the school.

In January 2024 it was clear that another classroom had to be built to accommodate all these students.
With the assistance of an NGO in America, that fund the building of classrooms in developing countries, a new classroom has been built on top of the existing one.

The school is now searching for donations to transform the existing toilet into a wheel chair friendly one, as some children are in wheel chairs.
The school has gained enormous attention from far and wide, but the need for a regular and stable income has risen, along with the increase in students.

We now urgently need some additional donations from all your kind hearts, to meet our monthly operational costs, and give support to these children.

Operational Budget (as per 2023)
To have a steady maintenance of school activities we need to raise the following income:
- 25 EUROs (28 dollars) per month per child
- 25 EUROs (28 dollars) for each of our 36 autistic, learning deficient / orphan and destitute children.
So to maintain this school for one month we would need roughly 890 EUROs (960 dollars) per month
We spend our financial resources as follows:
- Teachers' salary EURO 450 (485 dollars)
- Water and electricity EURO 57 (61 dollars)
- School stationary EURO 112. (120 dollars)
- Transport to pick up and drop off the children using our own, rented transport EURO 112 (120 dollars)
- Food and breakfast for the children (Dal rice vegetables etc.) 75 EUROS (80 dollars)
- Medicines EURO 60 (65 dollars)
- We also buy clothing and winter sweaters etc -

The school's financial costs have increased, as well as the number of students, whilst we have a shortage of funds and resources.
So we would like to request all of your kind philanthropic hearts to sponsor the children monthly and help to pay for their education, food and well-being.

Sponsorship programs
You may contribute to any of the following sponsorship programs:
A) 878 EUROs (945 dollars) for all children for one month. Or as many months as you can.
B) 295 EUROS (320 dollars) for one child for one year (we have 36 children).
C) 146 EURO (158 dollars) for one child for 6 months.
D) a minimum of 75 EURO (80 dollars) for 3 months, for one child.

With all your help we procured the land and built the school classroom and now we need this commitment to help these destitute children.

I thank you all on behalf of Bharati Devi Educational Foundation and all the Members of the Sri Adi Shankara VidyaAlaya School, for all your help‼️
Keep supporting Kamal Kamal (Director)
