Funding Robert's Treatment

Robert Rohde is a dear friend and colleague, a brilliant scientist, talented science communicator, and devoted husband. Recently we received the tragic news that has been diagnosed with Burkitt’s Lymphoma, a rare and aggressive type of white blood cell cancer. The long-term prognosis is good, but it will require a long ordeal of surgery and chemotherapy for Robert to fight it off. While his medical insurance will cover most of the cost of treatment, Robert and his wife Charlotte expect to have to pay around $10,000 out of pocket, in addition to forgone wages during treatment. We should pitch in as a community to help them through these troubled times.

About Robert

Robert currently lives in Zurich, Switzerland with his wife Charlotte and golden retriever puppy Mattie. He is the lead scientist at Berkeley Earth, and was the driving force behind their surface temperature product and real-time air pollution mapping system. He is responsible for a variety of quality content (and figures) on the subject of climate science on Wikipedia, and ran the Global Warming Art project for many years to help the public better visualize climate change. Robert's work has been widely distributed, and his video of global temperatures over time was shown on the Daily Show back in 2011.
