Krista is a true Canadian hero and rowing legend—she is two-time Olympian and Silver Olympic medalist in the 2012 Women's 8.
On March 9th, 2024, as Krista went to open a jar of pickles, she broke her arm. This seemingly routine act would later confirm that her breast cancer from 2022 had returned, now in her bones. Upon further private testing Krista was diagnosed with stage four cancer, which included six lesions from her head to her waist.
Krista will undergo an advanced treatment of Intratumoral Immunotherapy for which we believe she is an ideal candidate. The cost of these private treatments surpass hundreds of thousands of dollars.
This mother of two needs your support in this epic journey in receiving urgent medical treatment. Krista Guloien Temple is a friend, a sister, a mother, a wife, a daughter.
What Is Project 125.1?
We’re building a legacy of support to help athletes who face sudden health adversities, providing funding beyond the finish line.
Back in March 2024, upon hearing the heartbreaking news of Krista’s diagnosis, Matt was inspired to complete a 48-hour running challenge (four miles every four hours) to help support Krista’s first treatment, raising over $50,000.
After Krista’s successful first treatment, Matt recognized the opportunity to continue to support his dear friend as the life-saving battle had just begun (again).
“At 42 years of age, I’m at my peak performance. I’ve been given these unique abilities and I know I can make a difference.”
Matt, Krista and her family, which includes other pro athletes, recognize there are major constraints for those who devoted their life to sport.
Project 125.1 is the first iteration of this legacy project and Krista will be the first beneficiary.
Let’s inspire people to support those who inspired us.
The Sea to Sky Highway is the scenic and world-renowned 125km highway from Vancouver to Whistler, B.C.
Matt will be completing this 125km overnight run.
It will be a gruelling and intense journey, covering 1900 meters of elevation.
Matt’s deep care for Krista, and his relentless discipline and commitment to health over the years, is the driving force behind this initiative.
Matt will be running through the night, facing both physical and mental demands, to cross the finish line nearly 20 hours later.
“A true friend is someone who is there for you when he’d rather be anywhere else.”

Fundraising Dinner
We’ll come together in celebration at the Bearfoot Bistro in Whistler, B.C. over a beautiful, curated meal by one of the region’s best restaurants.
Dining at the Bearfoot Bistro is more than a meal: It’s a culinary journey.
It’s the combination of a familiar flavour, with a new technique, a local ingredient given an international twist. Enjoy dinner and add optional experience of the Grey Goose Ice Room.
We hope you will join us!
