Ade’s Sickle Cell Anemia Bone Marrow Transplant
Donation protected
Adedunmade, my son, is a 6 year-old boy who is smart, inquisitive, and fun-loving. He enjoys going to local parks, reading the map, traffic and weather, and playing with his younger sister. Ade as he is fondly called was diagnosed at birth with Sickle Cell Anemia Type SS, which is the most severe type of sickle cell. Sickle Cell Anemia is an inherited genetic disease of the blood that affects the shape of red blood cells, causes pain and damage to the body’s organs, affect the quality of an individual’s life (including shorter life span expectancy), and requires ongoing medical care. This year alone, Ade has been hospitalized on four different occasions due to having enlarged spleen which is a sickle cell crises so he was placed on monthly transfusion. The only cure for sickle cell anemia is a Bone Marrow Transplant.
Thankfully, Ade is a candidate for a Bone Marrow Transplant. He will be the recipient of his 5 year-old sister’s bone marrow. He will undergo a Bone Marrow Transplant on September 2022 to cure him from sickle cell. The procedure, treatment, and recovery from the transplant will take approximately 1 year to complete. I will not be able to work during that time while I care for him. I have decided to set up this GoFundMe in hopes to alleviate some of the financial burden that I and my family will endure over the coming year and into the future. I am more than grateful for any help given during this time. No donation is too small. Thank you in advance. #sicklecell #gofundme #bonemarrowtransplant #donate
