Memorial for Arvel Adams
Donation protected
It’s with a heavy heart that we are informing you that our dear friend, Arvel Adams, passed away early Friday morning, May 17th. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Until the end, he fought bravely and with determination to win this battle with cancer.
Arvel touched so many people and taught all of us about maintaining dignity, humanity and hope in the face of insurmountable odds. He will not be forgotten.
We are grateful for all of your emotional and financial support these past months. Sadly, there are now new costs associated with his passing that are unfunded. We want his grieving family to be able to have the special service that this incredible young man deserves.
Therefore, we are asking for additional support to offset these expenses. Any additional donations are deeply appreciated. Thank you.

On October 12th, 2018, our good friend Arvel Adams was diagnosed with Renal Medullary Carcinoma, an extremely rare and aggressive form of non-clear cell kidney cancer. Currently, Arvel is undergoing treatment to help combat this terrible cancer.
Arvel is from Brooklyn, NY and is a junior studying government at the University of Virginia. Arvel attended Prep for Prep, a leadership development program that identifies promising students of color in New York City, like Arvel, and offers those students access to a premier middle school and high school education. Arvel’s hard work and dedication earned him admission to The Dalton School in New York, where he excelled, as well as internships at the Office of the Mayor and at J.P. Morgan Chase, where he interned for three consecutive summers.
In addition to his academic and intellectual success, Arvel is incredibly caring and empathetic, insightful and thoughtful, and possesses a maturity well beyond his years. His wisdom, humility, and contagiously positive attitude touch the lives of everybody he meets. He’s funny and upbeat, with a laugh and smile that brightens the gloomiest of days. Arvel also loves playing sports, especially basketball, and following his beloved New York Knicks.
The emotional and financial burden placed on Arvel’s family as a result of this diagnosis requires us to ask for your help. Unfortunately, at this point, we do not know all of the costs that Arvel and his family will incur as Arvel fights this battle on all fronts, but Arvel is going to need help and support at home, nutritious food, transportation, and coverage for any medical and treatment costs that are not covered by insurance. There are also going to be many other unanticipated expenses that Arvel and his family are going to incur during this difficult time. By donating, you are helping support Arvel and his family with all of their needs.
Arvel’s sudden illness is both shocking and devastating, and he is fighting ferociously to win his battle with cancer. But he needs your help. Please consider donating, and keep Arvel in your thoughts and prayers.
