Medical Fundraiser for Brit of Paper & Clay

Thank you for visiting the fundraising page for Brit McDaniel, a small business owner with a shop and working studio on South Main in Memphis, TN. As a small business owner and artist, which so many in this country are, we know that health care makes it the hardest for this demographic. We thank you for being here.

Earlier this week, while walking her dog, Gracie, before heading to the studio, Brit of Paper & Clay was bitten by a copperhead snake in Overton Park. She was able to get to the hospital quickly but had to stay four days and three nights due to the severity of the bite and the onset of an infection.

*As an aside, if you aren't aware, the costs for antivenom in this country range from $76,000 - $115,000, and that's not including the loss of work, time in the hospital, etc. That's just for the antivenom alone. Brit is faced with a long road to recovery from her injury, both mentally and physically.

First and foremost, Brit is aware of this fundraising effort and has been beyond moved by the outpouring of love. We hope that this Go Fundme will help her with the burden of meeting her deductible, cover the costs of two weeks of lost work (she has to be off her foot and resting for two weeks), cover the costs of staffing the shop in her absence at a busy time for Downtown Memphis, and any other costs that arise from this unfortunate event.

This GoFundme is started by long-time friends and fellow small business owners and artists. We want to see this community come together, far and wide, to show support for someone that could be any of us in the same situation. This is the type of thing that could actually crumble a business and will have long-lasting effects on Brit and her business, Paper & Clay.

All money raised via this GoFundMe will be directed in its entirety to Brit and her shop to put towards medical expenses, extra labor, overhead costs, and production so that her business doesn't further fall behind.
