Battle with Brock McNown Fundraiser

Donation protected

Brock McNown was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in January 2019 shortly after graduating from high school. He had large tumors filling his chest, covering his heart and lungs as well as tumors in his neck. He quickly started 6 months of chemotherapy treatments followed by radiation. Brock’s doctors were hopeful that these treatments would be his cure but shortly after finishing radiation, he received the devastating news that he relapsed.

Brock then began months of more chemotherapy to prepare for a bone marrow transplant and was admitted to the hospital just as Covid was starting where he would go through the harsh bone marrow transplant process for 2 weeks alone in quarantine because of the pandemic. After completing the transplant and additional months of chemotherapy, Brock relapsed once again.

Brock is currently receiving immunotherapy treatment which has thankfully been easier on his body but has a small chance of curing him. The only remaining approved treatment for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma has a significant mortality rate so the McNown family wants to do all they can to find other treatment options through clinical trials, none of which are offered in Oregon. Brock will be traveling to consult with specialists around the nation as to which clinical trials are most promising and if eligible would travel back and forth or live in another state. Brock’s parents are self-employed with no paid time off. The cost of a medical insurance plan that insures Brock won’t be excluded from out-of-state trials is incredibly high with their family’s premiums alone totaling well over 100k since diagnosis.

Brock has handled this journey with amazing maturity, faith and courage but the struggle to stay hopeful weighs on him daily as he faces the uncertainty of his future. During a season of life when most kids are in college and preparing for their future, Brock has been in almost continual treatment with hundreds of appointments, multiple surgeries and chemotherapy regimens, heart issues, blood transfusions, radiation, bone marrow transplant, pet/ct scans and ER visits ~ many of which were spent alone because of Covid.

Through all these experiences Brock has truly been a light to those around him including his nurses and doctors. Long before his diagnosis, Brock had a heart for those in need who were facing challenges, organizing after-school activities for students with special needs as well as kids who were battling cancer at his high school. Little did he know that he would soon be on the receiving end of this type of kindness from others.

Please join us in lending support and showing love to this incredible young man and his family by helping to lighten their financial load as Brock embarks on the 5th year of his cancer journey.
The McNown family is truly grateful for all the love, prayers, meals, support and encouragement from friends, family and even strangers throughout Brock’s battle. Any size gift is greatly appreciated and your donations will go directly to helping Brock and the McNown family with insurance/medical expenses and travel/lodging costs which will allow their family to focus on Brock’s care and ultimately finding his cure.
