Fundraiser for Chris Hill and Family
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Joanne, and I am reaching out to everyone, asking for your help in raising funds for my son inlaw, Chris Hill, and his wife, Logan Hill, (my oldest daughter), and their young family.
In January of this year, Chris was diagnosed with a form of cancer known as Myelodysplastic Syndrome. This cancer affects the immature blood cells in the bone marrow and prevents them from maturing, or becoming healthy blood cells. The only cure for this particular cancer is a successful stem cell transplant. The last several months have been a very rough road for Chris and Logan, and their four young children, Lochland, age 6, Harbor, age 5, Anders, age 3, and Riggins, age 4 months. This road had been very difficult, emotionally, psychologically, and financially.
Chris and his family have resided in the Poplar Hill/Ilderton area for several years, where they established/owned and operated, Hillmark Holsteins. A couple of years ago, Chris and Logan purchased the family farm, and at that time, did a complete renovation of the house to meet their needs, S well as the needs of their growing family. At the same time, although, on a smaller scale, they have continued the Hillmark tradition of producing quality dairy and show cattle, as well as hay production and sales. Recently, in support of their children's love of horses, a few horses have also been added to their farm. Over the past few years, Chris has not only been a supporter of his own young children, he is also a supporter and mentor of other young in the community enabling, and teaching, them in the practice of raising and showing cattle, and overall animal husbandry.
Today Chris and Logan received word from Victoria Hospital, in London, that Chris's cancer has now advanced to leukemia, and he must now be admitted into the hospital for a four to six week stay, during which time Chris will undergo several rounds, and dosages of chemotherapy, and/or radiation. During this time, only a select few adult visitors will be allowed in to see him, however, Chris and his young children will not be allowed to see each other.
This newest chapter in this families journey with cancer will be one, of many, of tremendous financial hardship, as Logan, who has been the primary money earner, since Chris's diagnosis, will need to take time off of work. Not only will she be at Chris's side during this ordeal, but she will be required to fill the dual role of both mom and dad to their children, as well as maintaining the everyday running of the household/farm.
From the bottom of my heart, I am asking our families, our friends, (both near and far), our aqaintances, the farming communities, and businesses, to please help this family out. Thank you, in advance...Jo
