Christina Oliver is a very dear coworker and friend who has always gone above and beyond for others. She is struggling right now with health issues and is not able to work due to her condition. Attached is her story. I urge you to read it and consider donating if you can. Thank you all so very much!!

Hi! My Name is Christina Oliver. I am a 46yr old wife of 26 yrs. and mother of two beautiful girls. After my second daughter was born, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Along with RA, I have interstitial lung disease. After 20+ years of my disease my health has had an unfortunate turn of events.

The summer of 2019 I started struggling more often catching my breath when I do simple tasks, like walking from my car to the house. My energy was low and I started losing weight. I ignored these symptoms because I had to work and get my girls through college.     Christmas came along and I started having symptoms that could not be ignored any longer. I began retaining fluid in my legs and struggling harder than ever to breath. I went to the hospital Emergency Room  to get checked out. Along with blood work, cardiac catheterization and other tests, I was admitted and spent my Christmas in the hospital. My diagnosis was congestive heart failure and pulmonary hypertension. I took a week off before going back to work. I was feeling a little better until the end of January when things got real! With my interstitial lung disease I use oxygen when I sleep. This particular day in January I suddenly could not breath. I went for the oxygen to try and catch my breath. I was home alone and didn’t know what to do. The Lord was on my side because both of daughters came home at same time. I thought I would be ok with just the oxygen, but my girls refused to accept that and they called 911. I was admitted to the hospital a second time because my right lung collapsed. Along with that I tested positive for the flu.  I had a chest tube placed into my right lung. Then I get news that I thought I would never hear. The surgeon came to see me and told me he sent the results of my lungs to Vanderbilt in Nashville because I needed to be considered for a lung transplant. He asked me for the ok to begin the transfer to Vanderbilt ASAP.  I am currently in the process of transplant evaluation.

A requirement a patient has after transplant at Vanderbilt is to relocate to the area for three months. It will cost about $12,000 to rent an apartment for three months. With major medical issues, I will have big medical bills. My friends/coworkers are helping me set up this Go Fund Me to ask for help. I have been out of work for several months. I have health insurance to cover some of the costs. Opportunity to return to work is grim so there’s a possibility I will lose my insurance if I’m unable to pay the COBRA premiums.

I want to say thank you for taking the time to read my story. May God bless you.
