Fundraiser for Cricket's Surgery
Donation protected
My cat Cricket had a chronic condition known as megacolon that would often keep her from defecating. When this happened, she would need to be put under anesthesia and deobstipated (manual removal of the poop obstruction in her colon). This happened on and off a few years ago, but through diet change and miralax it had been years since she had a flare up. These past few weeks the tide turned, and she stopped pooping. I took her to my primary vet who performed an enema to no avail. Then went to a pet ER, who ended up performing another deobstipation. Unfortunately after all this, Cricket was still not defecating. The pet ER and my primary vet advised surgery as the best option.
Cricket underwent a colectomy where they removed the dilated part (85%!) of her colon. It’s a relatively simple procedure, with a high success rate. But it comes with a large cost ($8k) that could not be covered by insurance, since this is considered a pre-existing condition. I’m asking for help to cover this amount, as well as the cost of the other appointments, and transportation taking her to and from the vet, as I do not have a car. Gofundme also takes a percentage of every donation, so I am padding for that as well. Any support is much appreciated. I feel so lucky to have Cricket in my life. Sometimes I can’t believe that we’ve been hanging out for a whole fifteen years now. I’m happy to say that she is in otherwise good health, and is still sprightly and rambunctious, even in her senior age. Thank you for all your help. :)
