Fundraiser for Dalit History Month- April 2024
Don protégé
The South Asian Dalit Adivasi Network Canada (SADAN) has launched the first Dalit History Month celebration in Canada in 2021. Since then, we have celebrated Dalit History Month every year with friends, families, and other well-wishers in our struggle to build a caste discrimination-free society. Dalit History Month is an annual event to remember and celebrate the history of the Dalits, Adivasis (Indigenous), and other caste-oppressed people in South Asia who have fought against centuries of discrimination, inequity, and oppression. This event celebrates and remembers anti-caste crusaders Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Mahatma Jotiba Phule, E.V. Periyar, Savitribai Phule, Ramabai Ambedkar, Fatima Sheikh, Birsa Munda, Kumaram Bheemu and other legends who have sacrificed their lives to build an egalitarian society for all. As part of the celebrations, we organize cultural performances, critical dialogues, presentations, and talks that are part of Dalit Adivasi storytelling tradition and history-making processes for future generations. The foremost anti-caste crusaders, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Jotiba Phule were born in April. We continue to take forward their legacy.
The SADAN previously organized Dalit History Month with financial support from the University of Toronto, Queens University, and Carleton University. The SADAN would like to organize the 2024 Dalit History Month in a community to facilitate the participation of community members and other well-wishers. The SADAN seeks financial support from individuals and organizations to celebrate Dalit History Month in April 2024. Therefore, please support us and be part of this year’s celebrations.
Thank you.
