Fundraiser for Dexter

My name is Lyndsey and i am hoping to raise some funds for Dexter and his family.

Dexter is 11 and has very recently been diagnosed with an aggressive form of bone cancer and has started Chemotherapy this week as an in-patient at Nottingham QMC.

From the shock of the diagnosis, to then attending multiple hospital appointments at sites such as Birmingham Children's Hospital, QMC and CITY for investigative scans and biopsies required to build a detailed treatment plan, the last few weeks have been an absolute rollercoaster of emotions for all of them as a family.

It goes without saying that the treatment Dexter has now started will make him incredibly poorly quickly. Whilst most 11 years olds are looking forward to enjoying the summer holidays and going up to 'big school' in September. Dexter is fighting this vile disease.

He is such a caring, well mannered, funny lad, who has such an incredibly positive attitude to his treatment and outlook for the months ahead.

On Wednesday 21st August we are holding 'Shave for the Brave' where my David Nieper colleagues, Catherine and Kerry will be shaving their heads to raise money along with various other people who have come forward with various fundraising ideas throughout the summer months.

All money will go directly to Dexter and his family for them to use whenever and however they choose on whatever helps them as a family.

His Father is one of my very best friends and seeing what this lovely family are going through at the moment is frankly heart breaking. None of us can alter the situation, but we, as a community can offer our support to them in any way possible.

Any donations will be greatly appreciated and are going to a truly wonderful young man who in his words says, " Cancer should be scared of him, he shouldn't be scared of cancer " if you are unable to leave a donation, please help us by sharing.
