Fundraiser for Doug Geib

Father. Son. Friend. I bet you each have amazing stories about a friend just like Doug Geib - someone who challenges you with interesting conversations, who makes you laugh, who is a good leaning-place when you need to feel heard.

Doug recently had a seizure while out shopping with his family. Just an ordinary outing, ending with an extraordinary event.

He awoke in the hospital to learn he had a brain tumor. Oligodendroglioma is a primary central nervous system tumor, meaning it begins in the brain or spinal cord. The cause of most oligodendrogliomas is not known, and seizures like the one Doug experienced are often the first sign the tumor exists.

Doug will have surgery Monday, February 26, to remove the tumor, which we’ve been told is a little larger than a golf ball. Then comes recovery, including an anticipated 4-6 weeks of rehab. Then comes any next steps necessary after pathology.

Do you know Doug’s favorite Christmas movie (maybe even his all-time favorite movie)? It’s a Wonderful Life - in which George Bailey learns the importance of life, and of allowing friends to help us get through difficult times. The movie means so much to him, his son Bailey was named after the lead character. (Bailey is the handsome young man in the picture above with Doug.)

In addition to being Dad & best bud to Bailey, Doug takes care of his mom, Dottie. Family time is often spent watching favorite movies, playing WII sports, listening to music, or playing brutal no-holds-barred games of Uno.

Let’s show Doug the meaning of friendship. We all know the crushing weight medical bills can bring, even with insurance. Couple that with weeks off work, and household/living expenses that don’t pause when life takes unexpected turns. It can bring a lot of additional stress. We’d like to help alleviate that burden so Doug can focus on his recovery and well-being. We hope you will too.

Please keep Doug and his family in your prayers, and please consider making a donation. Thank you.
