Fundraiser for Jalen Sutton's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Cynthia Meier and I am Jalen's aunt. Patricia Huffer is his mother and my sister. On August 25th, Jalen sustained a spinal cord injury during his high school football game. He was immediately taken to the hospital, and it was determined that he had suffered a cervical spinal cord injury involving his C4 and C5 vertebrae located in his neck. Shortly after arriving at Primary Children's Hospital in SLC, they performed surgery on his spinal cord. Initially, he lost feeling and function in his arms and everything below his chest area. Three days after surgery, he has regained feeling in his abdomen, both arms, both hands and both feet, as well as some movement in his right arm. He is currently in the ICU and has had to be intubated while receiving his food via a feeding tube.
Jalen is his parent's only child, three weeks away from turning 18yo and only ten days into his senior year in high school.
The outpouring of support that our family has received has helped us stay strong through this traumatic event. This includes our family, friends, neighbors, schoolmates & teammates, school staff, as well as his co-workers. Thank you for your continued prayers!!!
As many of you can imagine, it will take a lot of patience, therapy and love to get him back stronger than ever. We want to ask for your support during Jalen’s continued recovery. No amount is too small. Anything you can give will help tremendously with Jalen’s continuous hospital stay and long-term rehabilitation. Jalen is strong, and he is a fighter, which he has proven to the medical staff already. He will get through this with the help of all his friends, family, and supporters.
Donations collected here will go directly to Jalen's parents, to help cover his medical bills and all other costs associated with his long road to rehabilitation.
