GFM forJoe Schelstraete Murdered Uber driver
Donation protected
Joseph Schelstraete was a hard-working Northwestern Indiana man who worked in the steel industry and part-time as an Uber driver to provide for himself and his family; including 3 children going into their teenage years. At around 7:30 pm on Monday, May 31, 2021… a Memorial Day holiday, Joe was driving and received an Uber ride order in Cicero, Illinois where his life was suddenly taken in a tragic act of senseless violence.
Joe is remembered by a wide community of family and friends as someone with a dry sense of humor and was always smiling. These communities are shocked and devastated by the loss of such a great neighbor and friend, let alone the family losing a son, a nephew, a brother, and a father.
This fundraiser was created and sponsored by the Independent Drivers Guild, representing and supporting hundreds of thousands of ridesharing and delivery drivers. All funds received here will go to help Joe’s family through this difficult time.
On behalf of Joe’s family and Independent Driver’s Guild, your support is sincerely appreciated.
