Fundraiser for Julie Wood

Julie Wood is an extraordinary woman. Beautiful, kind, loving, strong, independent, determined, and filled with faith in Jesus. She met Chris in 2001 and had a hunch he was the one God had for her. They briefly dated in 2007, then found their way back to each other 13 years later. They were married on October 24, 2020.

For a little over 2 years, their marriage has been full of fun and sweetness. They moved into their new home, enjoyed going to Preds games, and were always holding hands. 2 weeks ago, their lives were forever changed.

On March 26, Julie suffered a catastrophic injury from an accidental fall in their home. She has a complete spinal cord injury and was left paralyzed. She is currently in the Vanderbilt ICU recovering from surgery. Chris has been a constant at her side; reading scripture to her, cheering her on, and singing Elvis songs.

Right now, she has a tracheotomy to help her breathe and a feeding tube to administer nourishment. She is currently on a ventilator and fighting pneumonia.

Once her condition is stabilized, she will be transferred to Shepherd Center in Atlanta to begin rehabilitation. Miraculously, she has some feeling in both arms and hands with limited movement, primarily in her left arm.

Julie is an avid gardener, cook, seamstress, and crafter. The hope is she can regain the use of her hands to continue doing the things she enjoys most.

Julie has insurance but we are unsure how much of her stay at Vanderbilt will be covered. Her stay at Shepherds is only covered for up to 60 days. The financial burden of such an accident is monumental and we hope to assist them with the current medical cost and future costs of care.

Despite the circumstances, both Chris & Julie remain strong, full of faith, and hopeful for the future. They deserve many more years loving each other and enjoying their life together. Any donation, big or small, is appreciated and will be used to give Julie the quality of life she deserves.
