Fundraiser for Kristin Bowman

Hi, my name is Amber and Kristin is my sister-in-law. I am starting this GoFund Me for Kristin Bowman, who has been a police officer with the Denver PD for just over a year now, after graduating Police Academy last April.

While on duty, on Thursday, May 25th, Kristin was in a major car accident. She sustained multiple injuries, the most serious being significant head trauma. She has been diagnosed with a diffuse axonal brain injury (DAI). Kristin had been moved out of the Neuro-ICU and into a progressive care unit. Kristin’s care will be an extensive journey for her and also her family, who have been by her side around the clock since the accident. Anyone who knows Kristin, knows how tough she is and she is fighting like only she can.

We have created this GoFund Me for anyone who would like to help the family with travel expenses or needs to continue to advocate for Kristin’s care during this difficult time. The money raised would be dispersed to fund any medical costs not covered by Workers Comp and to help offset costs and lost income so that her Mom, Tara, can continue to be the primary caregiver throughout Kristin’s recovery.

There has been a wonderful outpouring of love and support for Kristin. She has so many amazing friends, family members and fellow officers who love her. Thank you for anything you can give to help our girl recover.

Update June 8:

I would like to start by extending a HUGE thank you to everyone who has offered love and support. Thank you for your donations, all of your kind words, and sharing so that we can provide Kristin with the best care she can possibly get. It isn’t until life’s most difficult times that you understand how the love and support of friends and family means everything.

On Tuesday, June 6, Kristin was moved from Lutheran hospital to the Craig Institute. For those who are not familiar with Craig, this is a Hospital with a primary focus on brain injury and spinal injury. It is a wonderful facility and we think it’s the best place that Kristin could possibly be. Her care team at Craig immediately started physical and occupational therapy along with speech therapy to begin her long road to recovery.

Per her doctors, she will not be receiving visitors outside of family at this time. For anyone who wishes to send cards or words of love, you can share those words with us or cards can be sent to Craig Hospital c/o Kristin Bowman.
