Fundraiser for Kyla Lapointe's 4 daughters
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Dom, one of Kyla's many cousin's from Bathurst New Brunswick. I've relocated to Perth, Australia in 2020 and since I am so far away and unable to make it back for Kyla's funeral, I feel that making this gofundme is the least I can do. I've decided to make a gofundme with the families approval to raise money for Kyla Lapointe's 4 daughters and assist with her funeral costs. Kyla was stabbed multiple times on Belleview Avenue in east-end Moncton early Tuesday morning 11/07. She later died in hospital at the young age of 32 years old, just a couple weeks shy of her 33rd birthday. Kyla leaves behind 4 young daughters, Meadow, Autumn, Harmony & Willow aged between 12 years old and 16 months.
Kyla was the biggest free spirit anyone could meet. Her favourite places were the forest, the beach, anywhere in nature. She was special and she touched a lot of people. Almost anyone who came across Kyla left a different person.
Kyla was on the committee for the New Brunswick Youth in Care Network (NBYICN), an organization that helps youth facing a variety of social challenges. She stood up for the rights of children in care. Kyla was one of the earliest members of the network and gave personal testimony at hearings at the provincial legislature in front of the premier and members of cabinet. Her advocacy and passion to improve the system of care, which she knew all too well, was a guiding light to many and had an impact at the highest systematic levels. Kyla won a Muhammed Ali Humanitarian Award as an advocate who promoted policy, programming and resources for youth in the child welfare system. Kyla was so vulnerable herself and she gave out so much and it was her who needed it the most.
The three people, two men and one woman, who have been charged with second-degree murder in Kyla's death, will make their second court appearance July 19th. We ask that you group together on the day that they appear in court July 19th at 11am (Moncton court house), for them to be held accountable for their heinous crime.
We want to fill the courtroom to show them how much her life counted, how much she was loved. Please come out and support Kyla and her family & friends. She was an amazing soul and deserved so much more than what happened to her.
Please consider donating & sharing this gofundme, in the hopes that we can give the money to her 4 daughters, and assist with funeral costs.
Thank you in advance.
