Megan’s Journey
Megan first went to the Emergency Room in Connecticut on January 18th, for severe groin pain, back pain, and abnormal blood test results. Scans found a mass in her leg and nodules in her lungs. On February 2nd, Megan was diagnosed with cancer, specifically a rare type of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma called Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma.
Megan has lived in Connecticut for the last two years after graduating college and is working as a Digital Reporter and Producer with a local news paper. Due to the circumstances, Megan has moved back home to Long Island with her family while she undergoes her chemotherapy treatments. She has had to take a leave of absence at work for the time being.

Megan has had two separate hospital stays, each a week long. She was first hospitalized in Connecticut and then moved to Sloan Kettering Cancer Center where she was diagnosed. She began the painful process of freezing her eggs and ended up completing it but becoming too sick with pneumonia to complete the egg retrieval surgery. Her second hospitalization was due to coming down with pneumonia, where she then had to move forward without the egg retrieval surgery and hastily began her first round of chemotherapy treatment.

Megan's treatment plan has her set to undergo 6 rounds of aggressive chemotherapy. Megan has also began physical therapy to maintain her strength throughout her treatment - she is ready to fight the fight!

A message from Megan about her podcast:
My love for multimedia production has inspired me to create a podcast on my own experience going through Cancer treatment. I will be discussing the real and raw moments of what it’s like to live through this. My goal is that by others hearing my experience, my conversations with family and friends who are also living through it will show them that they are not alone. My hope is that it will inspire others and give them the strength to find their way through this difficult journey.
